Noir welcomes new staff

I'm not sure that you our dear friends ever received a proper introduction to the friendly (not to mention lovable) staff of Noir. With only a small amount of grandstanding and smug self-satisfaction, these brave "Noirketeers" strive every week to bring you the very best of art, music, potables (non-potent variety), atmosphere and "hang-ability." So without further ado, here are the people of Noir:

Guido -- Vice President of Pessimism, Ultimate Frisbee adviser, Music Scheduling Master, friendly to strangers.

Julie -- Vice President of Great Ideas, Retail Lethario, Recreation Program Planner, good at gin rummy

Josh -- Vice President of Financial Fiscalability, Resident Beverage Consultant, still biting his nails

And we are especially pleased to introduce the latest addition to the Noir staff...

Lisa -- Social Coordinator, Street Team, Assistant (to the) Regional Manager, eye candy

The truth about fardingbag

OPEN MIC: Good turnout for open mic -- including several performers -- yea! Phil and Travis stayed around and played a game afterward with the gallery staff. Thanks, guys. And Phil's definition for Fardingbag ruled.

One of the friendly fire department guys showed interest in our selection of juices and sodas. Perhaps he'll come back and check it out further.

COMMENTS: A couple J'ville art-related comments in the newspaper's call-in column yesterday:
“The only good thing about the Gallery Hop is that Noir brings in works by new artists."
"Kyle Horton is the best artist in Jacksonville. His paintings are magical. Others should learn from him."

NEW SIGN: The Noir staff was excited to hear that some friends of the gallery are making us a sign for the empty spot out front. We can't wait to see it.

TONIGHT'S SHOW: Look, somebody besides us thinks tonight's show with Asteria, Roark and Nothing Ever Stays will be good.
